The No. 57 overall player in the Class of 2022 On3 100, Rowan Brumbaugh told On3 he is down to six schools.

The 6-foot-3 point guard from Northfield Mount Hermon (Mass.) High School has cut his list to Maryland, Miami, Kansas, Northwestern, Texas and Oregon.

Brumbaugh has taken official visits to both Northwestern and Maryland. Other visits are currently in the works.

Brumbaugh discusses each school with On3.

Maryland

“Of course it’s a hometown team, that’s awesome,” Rowan Brumbaugh said. “I have a really good relationship with Mark Turgeon, the head coach. I really like what they do with their point guards and how they use them off of ball screens. Their point guards have had success in the past. There’s a lot to like about them. They’re only about 20 minutes away.”

Miami

“Miami is awesome,” Rowan Brumbaugh said. “I love Coach (Jim) Larrañaga. I love what they do with their guards, too. They have really good guard development. Miami is a great school, too.”

Kansas

“They have a legendary coach in Bill Self,” Rowan Brumbaugh said. “He calls me a lot, checks in with me a lot. They have a great track record with guards. Kansas is also a blue-blood school, so there’s a lot to like there.”

Northwestern

“Northwestern is awesome,” Rowan Brumbaugh said. “I love Chris Collins and the coaching staff. I love the vibe there. Big Ten basketball, you know. There’s a good opportunity for me there.”

Brumbaugh also gave his thoughts on his Northwestern official visit in a previous interview:

“It was really cool,” he said. “Of course, Northwestern is a great academic school. I love their staff. Evanston is a great place. I have some family up there, so it’s a great spot.”

Texas

“I like Chris Beard a lot,” Brumbaugh said. “He’s about everything I’m about… winning and just getting the job done and being tough. He’s just a basketball junkie. He has a chip on his shoulder like me. He’s done a lot with his guards at Texas Tech, and now he’s at Texas. That’s an awesome program, too.”

Oregon

“I love the Ducks,” Brumbaugh said. “I have a great relationship with their staff. Coach (Dana) Altman really likes my versatility, and how I can play on and off the ball. I also really like the Pac-12 style a lot, more pace and space.”

Brumbaugh said his recruitment is still open, but he will focus on these six schools moving forward. Brumbaugh has not yet set a commitment date but he does want to “get this done sooner rather than later.”
