Winter Park (Fla.) four-star running back Terrance Gibbs has decommitted from Florida, announcing the news Tuesday on Twitter.

The move comes less than 24 hours after the Gators had an in-home visit with Gibbs.

“I would like to take the time to thank the University of Florida for the love and support they have shown me,” Gibbs tweeted. “With that being said, after a lot of thinking and taking to my family. I have decided that it is in my best interest to decommit from the University of Florida. I will take this time to evaluate what the best options for my future will be. My family and I wish nothing but the best for the players and the coaches.”

Gibbs is the No. 289 overall prospect and No. 23 running back in the nation, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies.

Florida has now lost decommitments from five players since last month: Mobile (Ala.) Faith Academy four-star linebacker Shemar James, Buford (Ga.) four-star athlete Isaiah Bond, Houston Clear Lake four-star cornerback Julian Humphrey and Ocala (Fla.) Forest four-star wide receiver Jamarrien Burt.

The recruiting class now ranks No. 22 in the On3 Consensus Team Recruiting Ranking.

Recruiting struggles is believed to be a big reason why the Gators elected to move on from head coach Dan Mullen earlier this month.

Florida hired Billy Napier — a noted great recruiter — as its head coach this weekend.

“He’s exactly what Florida needs,” a veteran SEC recruiter told On3’s Jeremy Crabtree about Napier. “The Gators need somebody that’s going to roll his sleeves and get to work. He’ll mend fences with the high school coaches throughout Florida and other parts of the Southeast. Not to knock the past staff at Florida, because some did work hard, but not all of them.
