On Friday, Duke flew in 2023 Gregory Jackson. The Columbia (SC) Ridge View High forward is a 5-star by the On3 Consensus, a proprietary algorithm that compiles ratings and rankings from all four major recruiting media services.

Duke’s recruiting has not slowed down since Mike Krzyzewski announced his retirement. One could argue head coach in waiting Jon Scheyer has taken recruiting up a level.

“It was great,” Jackson told On3 Sports in an exclusive interview after he completed his visit.

In Jackson’s Words

Jackson and his father, Gregory Jackson, Sr., attended Duke’s 20-point home win over Syracuse on Saturday. Duke freshman Paolo Banchero finished with 15 points, 13 rebounds, and four assists in that game.

“My favorite part was sitting down with the coaches and talking about how the team would look with me,” Jackson said. “They said how they produce guys like me, and they compared me to Paolo and told me how they want me to play in his position.”

Duke commitment Sean Stewart joined Jackson on the visit. The Orlando (Fl.) Windermere High forward is the On3 Consensus No. 22 ranked player in the 2023 class.

“I’ve known Sean for a while,” Jackson said. “We were at the (NBPA) Top 100 camp together, and we text a good bit. I would say we are good friends. He has been telling me Duke is the place for me and how well we would play together.”

Jackson continued with the Stewart connection, “Duke wants us both to come in 2023 together.”

This visit was Jackson’s third official taken. He went to North Carolina on October 15 for their Late Night with Hubert event. He visited Georgetown in November. Jackson has an official visit set up with South Carolina for February 18.

Along with the four schools above, Jackson also mentions Auburn and Virginia when talking with him about schools.
