Each team took part in a morning practice then came together for a joint afternoon session in the Alamodome. On3 was on hand at both practices.

Several blue-chip quarterbacks are on hand in San Antonio. Here’s On3’s ranking of the quarterbacks after the second practice.

1. Dante Moore – UCLA

Dante Moore was the top quarterback on the day, by a fair margin. After a solid showing on day one, Moore elevated his game on Wednesday. The 6-foot-1.5, 210-pounder had a number of strong throws during the afternoon joint practice. He threw a strike to Carnell Tate over the middle of the field for a long gain and later hit Brandon Inniss in the corner of the end zone on a designed roll out in 11-on-11. Moore was comfortable in facing the pass rush and working from within the pocket. He got the ball out quick and with good accuracy and zip. We also some nice throws from Moore in the quick game. He’s able to drop his arm slot and quickly flip the ball out to the boundary. Moore ranks as the No. 55 overall prospect in the On300. – Charles Power

2. Austin Novosad – Oregon

Austin Novosad was one again the top quarterback for the West team on Wednesday. The Dripping Springs (Texas) product looks to have the best pure pass ability of the group. Novosad has been steady through two days. He’s accurate and consistently throws a clean, catchable ball with solid velocity. Novosad was largely unbothered while operating behind center during the team portion of the morning practice. He got the ball out quickly and on time. While Novosad is certainly more of an in-structure quarterback at this time, we did see him make a play outside of the pocket, rolling to his left and finding Mikal Harrison-Pilot downfield for a long gain. He was not quite as strong in the afternoon, with his passes dipping a bit in 7-on-7. With that said, it was still a solid day for the Oregon signee.Novosad ranks as the No. 170 overall prospect in the On300. – Charles Power

3. Aidan Chiles – Oregon State

Aidan Chiles moves up to the No. 3 spot after a a good afternoon session on Wednesday. Chiles looked more comfortable and threw some nice deep balls in 1-on-1’s and 7-on-7 work. His physical talent stacks up well with the quarterbacks on hand. The arm strength and mobility are both good. Like we mentioned yesterday, Chiles is at an earlier stage in his development than many other 2023 quarterbacks. With that said, the improvement day-over-day at the All-American Bowl thus far is encouraging. Chiles ranks as the No. 185 overall prospect in the On300. – Charles Power

4. Lincoln Kienholz – Ohio State

Lincoln Kienholz had an up-and-down afternoon on Wednesday. The Ohio State signee delivered his fair share of nice passes but had a few throws hang on him during the afternoon’s 7-on-7 session. Kienholz is not a large-handed quarterback and does not have a wide margin for error with his mechanics, which can sometimes cause him to push and sail the football. With that said, he remains one of the best overall athletes at the position nationally and one who has the capability to make plays with his feet when things go live on Saturday. Kienholz ranks as the No. 116 overall prospect in the On300. – Charles Power

5. Christopher Vizzina – Clemson

We didn’t see Christopher Vizzina take as many reps during the joint team period Wednesday afternoon. The Clemson signee was relatively inconsistent this morning with his ball placement with a few throws getting away from him during routes-on-air. He did however look much more comfortable throwing on the run and maneuvering the pocket during the morning team period. Vizzina ranks as the No. 60 overall prospect in the On300. – Cody Bellaire

6. Pierce Clarkson – Louisville

Pierce Clarkson was not overly comfortable again on Wednesday, particularly when working from the pocket. The Louisville signee is a nimble, athletic quarterback who is at his best on the move and as a run threat. This is not Clarkson’s ideal setting as there’s limited rushing opportunities for the quarterbacks during practice. Clarkson ranks as a three-star prospect and as the No. 47 2023 quarterback per On3. – Charles Power
