Nashville (Tenn.) Pearl-Cohn five-star wide receiver Barion Brown is one of the top available prospects with Kentucky, Alabama and a host of others after his signature.

It was originally thought he would commit in August and then in September. But that time has come and gone and November is now right around the corner.

Pearl-Cohn head coach Tony Brunetti told On3 that Brown hasn’t told him what he wants to do quite yet.

“I don’t think there’s a timeline,” Brunetti said. “I think he just wanna play football right now. That’s his mindset.”

Kentucky is believed to be the favorite for Brown with the potential to be a day-one starter very enticing for the No. 14 overall recruit in the country. On3’s Chad Simmons put in prediction in favor of Kentucky last week and told Jeremy Crabtree that he still feels good about the decision.

Brunetti said he and Brown don’t talk about all the inner details of his recruiting but did say Kentucky hasn’t put itself in a separate tier.

“I don’t think Alabama is gone yet,” Brunetti said, who also mention Georgia, Oklahoma and Ole Miss as schools that are still in the mix for Brown.

Brunetti says Barion Brown’s ankle is at 90-to-95 percent

Pearl-Cohn was on a bye this past week but Brown missed the team’s game two weekends ago with a sprained ankle.

Brunetti told The Tennesseean at the time that Brown had been playing with the injury for two weeks prior to shutting down.

Brown returned to the practice field Tuesday for a workout, much to the delight of his teammates. The injury has healed during the time off as Brunetti said Tuesday night Brown’s ankle is now at about 90-to-95 percent.

Pearl-Cohn has a short week with a Thursday night game so it might be another week before Brown returns to the field. The team has already clinched a playoff berth with a win Thursday securing a home playoff game.

“It’s hard because kids want to play,” Brunetti said. “They think they can go nonstop even with injury. When you limping and limping and limping and you’re not getting better, that’s not good. That’s not good at all for yourself and your career and your life.”

Brown has 47 carries for 574 yards and 21 catches for 273 yards with seven total touchdowns on the season.

Brunetti said Brown will come back from the injury rested and more than fine. He is hopeful the five-star gets to have a great end to his high school career.

“I just want him to have fun,” Brunetti said. “Don’t stress about recruiting. Don’t stress about I gotta make this big play. Don’t stress. Just go play football and have fun. And let everything else work its way out.”
