Big Ten commissioner Kevin Warren was asked at the start of Big Ten media day about what number he’s targeting for the conference’s upcoming media rights contract upon the 2024 additions of USC and UCLA to the conference.

“So the target that we’re looking for, we’re still working through that I don’t want to guess what that would be I know we’ll reach that decision here pretty quickly, but as I said even regardless of the size of the deal the thing I’m most excited about during these negotiations have been the creativity of what were going to be able to deliver to our fans and to our student athletes and to our families,” Warren said.

Warren continued to elaborate how instead of focusing on the financial side of their media rights deal, he and others are focused more on how he will deliver diverse content to the Big Ten fanbase.

“So when you think an opportunity to be able to deliver content and I always talk about my focus every day is to make sure we deliver content to our fans from age five to 105 because people consume content differently,” Warren said. “We have nearly 7 million alumni around the world, and so I’m very conscientious from these media partner’s standpoint not to focus on the money, although that we will be blessed financially, but of how we can deliver content in a way that has never been delivered in college athletics ever before, which is critically important from that standpoint.”

Warren was also asked if USC and UCLA if they will both receive a full share of conference revenue distribution as soon as they are a part of the Big Ten.

“And yes USC and UCLA will come in as full members we think that’s important for various reasons, they bring a lot of value to our relationship, they bring a lot of panache to our relationship and we look forward to welcoming them into the Big Ten family in 2024, there’s a lot of work to be done between now and then,” Warren said.

All eyes will surely be on the Big Ten regarding their upcoming media deal once the two Pac 12 teams join the conference three seasons from now.
