Biggest risers in the 2023 On300 rankings

The most recent update of the 2023 On300 features numerous players who moved up in the rankings. When taking a deep dive into prospects that have impressed early this season, prospects in Texas, Florida, Georgia and Ohio made the biggest jumps. The Lone Star State leads the way with more than a half dozen prospects that made big jumps headlined by a TCU commitment Cordale Russell.

A list of the biggest risers in the On300 can be found below.

Luke Montgomery, IOL, Findlay (Ohio) High: Montgomery makes the jump to No. 24 from 47 with dominant senior video. The 6-foot-4, 285-pound Ohio State commitment fires off the ball with high-end initial quickness, and pop on contact. He attacks defenders with a nonstop motor. He not only looks to strike, but finish with aggression and power. Montgomery ranks as the No. 2 IOL in the cycle behind Penn State commitment Jven Williams.

Dashawn Womack, EDGE, Baltimore (Md.) St. Frances: The LSU commit jumps 25 spots to No. 28 in the latest ranking update. The 6-foot-4.5, nearly 250-pound edge prospect with an 81-inch wingspan has impressed early this season with a power-to-speed combination. Womack’s complete skill set was on full display in a 47-7 win over DeSoto High. He was a disruptive force in the pass and run game with the ability to win against matchups against a talented team from the Lone Star State.

Eugene Wilson III, WR, Tampa (Fla.) Gaither: The Florida verbal ascends 26 spots to No. 36. Wilson is one of the nations top prospects that could excel at the Power 5 level at receiver or cornerback. His initial quickness places defenders on heels. His agility and change of direction is among the best in the 2023 cycle. Wilson will not only be a weapon as a receiver for the Gators, but also in the punt return game. The near 5-foot-11, 170-pounder features a 4.49 laser 40-yard dash time that translates to the field on Friday nights.

Stephiylan Green, DL, Rome (Ga.) High: Green, a Clemson commitment, moves up to No. 41 from 81. The 6-foot-4, near 275 pound defensive lineman from the Peach State possesses the same initial first and second step quickness as a senior he did prior to adding weight as a senior. He has displayed the ability to win with quickness, power and long levers as a senior. Green has been a productive, and disruptive player against quality competition in the state this season.

Cordale Russell, WR, Mesquite (Texas) North Mesquite: The TCU commit is one of the updates biggest movers from No. 182 to 57 overall. The nearing 6-foot-3, 210-pounder has very high-end explosion for his size. He’s seemingly ascending physically, while still retaining the impressive athleticism he had prior to the physical jump. The ability to change direction, and create separation at his size places him among the very best in the 2023 cycle. Russell’s ability after the catch at his size is another way in which he separates himself from others at the position in the cycle.

Warren Roberson, S, Red Oak (Texas) High: The 6-foot-0, 190-pound two-way standout ascends 74 spots to No. 76 with some strong playmaking. Roberson has two interceptions and over 300 yards receiving in the first four games of the season. He playmaking, timing and ball skills show up on both sides of the ball. His movements are instinctive, decisive and snatches the ball with strong hands. USC continues to be the heavy favorite in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine over Oklahoma State, TCU, SMU and Texas.

Chase Bisontis, IOL, Ramsey (N.J.) Don Bosco Prep: The Texas A&M commitment moves to No. 78 from 113 with impressive short space quickness and physicality as a senior. Bisontis is athletic and flexible in a three-point stance, and fires off the ball with quickness and conviction. The Garden State star strikes with ideal initial pop, and runs his feet through the whistle. There is an aggression and want to punish defenders that will carry over ideally well to move people in the run game at the Power 5 level in the SEC.

Jelani McDonald, ATH, Waco (Texas) Connally: McDonald continues the climb in the On3 rankings up 44 spots to No. 102 overall. There is a question of which position the Oklahoma State verbal will play long term, but not how well he will play it. The 6-foot-2.5, near 195-pounder plays quarterback for Connally High, and is the best player on the field every Friday night. That showed up in spades in a 35-34 win over a talented LaVega High team September 2. He posted 184 rushing yards and two TDs, passed for 61 yards and a TD, and recorded five tackles and a sack on defense.

Cole Cabana, RB, Dexter (Mi.) High: The Michigan commitment ascends to No. 152 from 256. The 5-foot-11, 180-pound back displays ideal initial explosion, the quickness and vision to get to the edge and playmaking ability in space to maximize runs. Cabana also possesses the versatility to line up the slot or be a factor out of the backfield with sure hands, and and understanding of how to quickly work vertically after the catch.

Jonah Wilson, WR, Houston (Texas) Dekaney: Wilson jumps 111 spots to No. 162 with some excellent ball skills and playmaking as a senior. Wilson has faced constant double teams and rolled coverages early in the season, and is still putting up numbers. His ability to take contact, leave his feet and remain balanced to high-point the ball is among the best in the cycle. Wilson has also shown improves initial quickness after the catch early in the season. Wilson posted games of 197 and 232 yards receiving the first three games of the season.
