Four-star wide receiver Brenen Thompson of Spearman (Texas) High has narrowed his list to three schools – Texas, Texas A&M and Oklahoma State.

Brenen Thompson, a senior, recently announced his top six schools in June, but this go-around he cut Alabama, Clemson, and Oregon (who he visited in June) from the picture.

Thompson visited all three schools in his final three and spoke with On3 about each.

Brenen Thompson on Texas

“Texas was a great visit,” Brenen Thompson said. “I really enjoyed being around the coaching staff.”

Brenen Thompson on Texas A&M

“A&M was a good visit in June when I went by myself,” Brenen Thompson said. “I got to know the staff well. I went back to the pool party and hung out with all of the recruits and players. It was a great time.”

Thompson on Oklahoma State

“OSU is close to home,” Thompson said. “I can do everything I want there as well.”

Thompson is ranked as the No. 24 overall player in the On300 2022 rankings and the No. 3 receiver behind Evan Stewart and Barion Brown.

Scouting Brenen Thompson

On3 Director of Scouting and Rankings Charles Power says Brenton Thompson is an intriguing prospect.

“He is one of the more dynamic receivers in a deep group at the position in the 2022 class,” Power said. “He’s one of the fastest players in the country, if not the fastest. Thompson is a do-it-all high school player in a remote area of the Texas panhandle.

“While he doesn’t see the strongest competition on Friday nights, the movement skills and playmaking ability project well to the next level. Thompson isn’t just a straight-line athlete. He has excellent feet and change of direction skills. Last season, we saw him make a bunch of impressive extended grabs away from his body. His speed and playmaking ability make him one of the more dangerous targets in high school football.”
