College basketball is right around the corner and with it comes the prediction portion of the preseason. Everyone believes that they know who the best of the best are and who will help impact their team to best potentially make the NCAA Tournament and win a national title. With that in mind, CBS Sports was the latest outlet to release their preseason forecast of their All-American Teams.

The first thing you notice on the lists is they’re big-man heavy. The changes around the sport have resulted in more top-notch bigs decided to remain in college. Three elite ones join on the First Team in Gonzaga’s Drew Timme, North Carolina’s Armando Bacot, and Oscar Tshiebwe, the reigning National Player of the Year out of Kentucky.

First Team

  • Drew Timme, F – Gonzaga Bulldogs
  • Oscar Tshiebwe, F – Kentucky Wildcats
  • Armando Bacot, F/C – North Carolina Tar Heels
  • Marcus Sasser, G – Houston Cougars
  • Jaime Jacquez, G/F – UCLA Bruins

Second Team

Third Team

Timme, Tshiebwe, and Bacot all averaged over 16 points per game a season ago on over 56% shooting from the field. Tshiebwe and Bacot were both Top-3 in the nation in rebounding as well while Timme still averaged a decent 6.8 boards. That trio of bigs is joined by Houston’s Marcus Sasser and UCLA’s Jaime Jacquez to round out the first set.

The bigs don’t stop as three more from the Big Ten appear on the Second and Third teams. Indiana’s Trayce Jackson-Davis and Michigan’s Hunter Dickinson both averaged over 18 points per game with eight-plus boards on 56% and better from the field. Meanwhile, Purdue’s Zach Edey averaged 14.4 points and 7.7 rebounds on the third-best percentage in the nation at 64.8%. That second trio is joined by Dereck Lively II, Duke’s latest five-star freshman, as the final bigs who made the cut.

As for the guards, two high-profile freshmen join a group of six fantastic backcourt players on the Second and Third teams. Arkansas’ Nick Smith joins North Carolina’s Caleb Love and Memphis transfer Kendric Davis on the Second Team. Baylor’s Keyonte George then joins his teammate Adam Flagler on the Third Team along with fellow Big 12 guard Mike Miles Jr.

College hoops is upon us and all 15 of these players will likely have a say in how it plays out. Only time will tell, though, as we wait for November 7th and the official tipoff of the season.
