A brand-new Top 25 and 1 has been released by CBS Sports, as the college basketball offseason continues to be affected by the transfer portal, and the 2022 NBA Draft.

The latest development in the world of college hoops was Texas landing a huge commitment from a former Big 12 rival, as Iowa State guard Tyrese Hunter decided to join the Longhorns via the portal.

During his freshman season, Hunter ranked second on the Cyclones squad in points per game. As starting point guard, he also led Iowa State in assists with 4.9 per game. He averaged 11 points, 3.5 rebounds and two steals per game while averaging 31.9 minutes a night. He shot 39.1% from the field, 68.7% from the free-throw line and 27.4% from deep this season.

Now, he’ll take his talents from one Big 12 team to another, as the former Cyclones star will be rocking burnt orange during the 2022-23 season.

Nevertheless, regardless of transfers and draft decisions, Gary Parrish of CBS Sports doesn’t see anyone being able to supplant the No. 1 team — the North Carolina Tar Heels, last season’s runner-up.

“Prospects and transfers announcing their future plans will continue to impact the Top 25 And 1 in the coming days, weeks and months — but it’s difficult, at this point, to envision anybody supplanting North Carolina at No. 1,” wrote Parrish. “The Tar Heels are returning four starters from a team that lost to Kansas in the championship game of the 2022 NCAA Tournament. To that core, UNC is adding a top-15 recruiting class highlighted by top-40 prospects Seth Trimble and Jalen Washington.

“So it’s not crazy to think Hubert Davis could start his head-coaching career with back-to-back trips to the Final Four.”

While the Tar Heels will be a force, the world know it isn’t that simple in college basketball. Here’s the latest Top 25 and 1, courtesy of CBS Sports.
