The Cincinnati Bengals provided an injury update on their young star quarterback Joe Burrow ahead of their playoff matchup with the Las Vegas Raiders. Burrow was a full participant in their practice on Wednesday as he doesn’t appear to be bothered by his knee injury sustained against the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 17.

Bengals update Joe Burrow injury status

As the Bengals defeated the Chiefs in Week 17, they made a decision to go for a late fourth-down touchdown instead of kicking a field goal. The play resulted in a Chiefs penalty and eventually a field goal, but potentially cost the Bengals the health of their quarterback. Burrow appeared to tweak his knee on the play and was taken out of the game.

Afterwards, Burrow said the knee was “fine” and that they made a team decision not to risk any serious injury to him.

“It’s good enough,” said Burrow via The Athletic’s Paul Dehner Jr after the game. “Sore after Chargers game. Nothing serious. Would have come back in, knew [we would] just knee it and then clock it. Let Brandon [Allen] do it.”

The following week, Cincinnati made the choice to keep Burrow out for the final game of the season as their playoff position was already secured. With another week of rest, Burrow appears fully ready to go as the Bengals prepare for the Raiders and was a full participant in practice on Wednesday.

Joe Burrow leads Cincinnati to playoffs

In just his second season with the Bengals, Joe Burrow has returned Cincinnati to the playoffs. The former LSU star and first overall draft pick has become one of the NFL’s best quarterbacks in the process.

Over the course of the season, Burrow has played at an MVP level. In leading the Bengals to a division title, Burrow accumulated 4,611 yards and 34 touchdowns throwing the football. Additionally, he’s added 118 yards and two touchdowns with his legs.

Moreover, the quality of the victories the Bengals have accumulated is nothing to scoff at. Cincinnati brought out the brooms against their most vaunted rivals — sweeping the Pittsburgh Steelers and Baltimore Ravens.

Additionally, Burrow out-dueled the league’s premier signal-caller — defeating the Kansas City Chiefs and Patrick Mahomes to clinch the division. It was the biggest win in years for the Bengals.
