2023 4-star tight end Walker Lyons narrows list

Four-star tight end Walker Lyons of Folsom (Cali.) High narrowed his list to 11 schools on Thursday.

The schools that made the cut for Walker Lyons: Ole Miss, Ohio State, USC, UCLA, Alabama, Michigan, Oregon, BYU, Texas, Stanford and Washington. The 6-foot-4, 235-pounder narrowed his list out of his more than 30 offers.

Walker Lyons is ranked as the No. 82 player in the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average. Walker Lyons talked about each school on his narrowed-down list. He’s also the No. 7 junior in California and the No. 5 tight in the 2023 class.

Ole Miss

“The tight end play coach (Lane) Kiffin has been installing recently to the offense has been so high scoring,” Lyons said.

Ohio State 

“Ohio State’s winning culture and overall culture of the team they have is amazing,” Walker Lyons said. “Me and coach (Kevin) Wilson’s relationship is strong as well.”

USC 

“They are normally a West coast powerhouse school,” Walker Lyons said. “And will always have a high-powered offense.”

UCLA 

“Me and coach (Derek) Sage have a great relationship,” Walker Lyons said. “I love Westwood and how beautiful the campus is.”

Alabama 

“Because of the tradition and winning program that they are,” Walker Lyons said. They are always a top school and will give me a great opportunity to play in the NFL.”

Michigan 

“I feel they’ll be able to develop me physically to be the best tight end possible,” Lyons said.

Oregon 

“My visit there was great,” Lyons said. “How highly they viewed me on their board of 2023 tight ends stood out to me as well.”

BYU 

“BYU is recruiting me hard,” Lyons said. “The way they show how much they want me to go there, their recent move to the Big 12, and fans showing love means a lot.”

Texas 

“Me and coach (Steve) Sarkisian have a great relationship,” Lyons said. “I loved my visit, the city and the people of Austin.”

Stanford 

“The education at Stanford is the best,” Walker Lyons said. “Also, it is one of the best tight end schools in the country and is close to home.”

Washington 

“I loved my visit there,” Lyons said. “They were the first school to really start recruiting me and have shown lots of love.”
