Cleveland Browns safety Ronnie Harrison was hit with an ejection in the opening quarter of the Browns 33-29 loss against the Kansas City Chiefs. The fourth-year NFL player got into a sideline scuffle near the Kansas City sideline. Chiefs assistant Greg Lewis tried to get Harrison off of Clyde Edwards-Helaire by pushing the Browns defender. This set off more problems.

Harrison was eventually ejected for what looked like a push or punch at a Chiefs coach.

Cleveland Browns defensive end Myles Garrett came to the defense of his teammate following the game. He criticized the coach who got involved with an on-field scuffle. The Akron Beacon-Journal’s Nate Ulrich reports that the superstar also wanted to see an ejection for Greg Lewis.

Garrett added that Harrison needs to “be smarter,” according to Browns writer Scott Petrak.

It remains unclear whether there will be any further action against Harrison or Lewis for their actions on Sunday. NFL commissioner Roger Goodell could opt to levy fines or a suspension for either party.

The two teams have developed the early makings of a rivalry, combining classic games with controversial conflict. For the Cleveland Browns, the Kansas City Chiefs are the most recent opponent, leaving an even worse taste in their mouths with a second straight loss.

Kansas City and Cleveland met in the playoffs last season in an AFC Divisional matchup, a 22-17 win for the Chiefs. The two teams are again favorites to make a deep playoff push and had a lot on the line in Week One.
