Yet another week of college football has come to an end, and major changes to the AFCA Coaches Poll Top 25 rankings come with it after Week 9. With three ranked matchups and four additional ranked teams falling to unranked opponents, this week’s poll features significant movement.

The most surprising result of the weekend was No. 22 Kansas State‘s 48-0 victory over No. 9 Oklahoma State. The fact that the Wildcats won wasn’t surprising in itself, rather the fashion in which it happened. That loss is a disappointing one for Oklahoma State, who sees a bit of a fall in this week’s Coaches Poll. No. 11 Wake Forest also lost a puzzling game, falling 48-21 in a turnover-heavy game against Louisville.

No. 20 Cincinnati lost its second game of the season, falling 25-21 at the hands of AAC foe UCF. Then, it was a short stay in the top 25 for No. 25 South Carolina. The Gamecocks entered the polls after last week’s results, but Shane Beamer’s squad dropped a disappointing contest against Missouri on Saturday. No. 16 Syracuse also lost its second consecutive game, falling 41-24 against Notre Dame.

The other two losses from the top 25 in Week 9 came from ranked matchups. No. 3 Tennessee had no issues against No. 19 Kentucky, with the Volunteers walking away with a 44-6 edge. No. 2 Ohio State played in a tight game against No. 13 Penn State, but the Buckeyes ultimately pulled away with a 44-31 triumph.
