The transfer portal has made it easier than ever for college athletes to move freely. One of the top opportunities is to transfer to a school in the exceedingly competitive ACC. With college hoops right around the corner, CBS Sports’ Jon Rothstein named 20 transfers who could end up making an impact on how next season’s ACC could shake out.

10 Under-The-Radar ACC Transfers

Javon Franklin, Georgia Tech (South Alabama)

Several of the impact transfers have been tabbed as some of the best of the 1,700 plus players who entered the transfer portal this offseason. UNC’s Pete Nance, Duke’s Jacob Grandison, and Miami’s Nijel Pack and Norchad Omier all fit that bill. Three SEC transfer round out the impact list with Tyree Appleby, Jarkey Joiner, and Brandon Huntley-Hatfield all moving to the ACC.

Meanwhile, Pitt has three names on the under-the-radar list. Jeff Capel brought in Greg Elliott, Blake Hinson and Nelly Cummings to help a Panther program that finished 11-21 last season. Duke’s Ryan Young is another notable transfer pickup as a center with 37 college starts with the Northwestern Wildcats.

The transfer portal has changed how coaches can build a roster and their programs moving forward. This is the second wave of players to hit the portal and head to the ACC. If Rothstein is right, they should all help shape the ACC race in some way next season.
