College Basketball Rankings: AP Poll Top 25 updated after Week 5

The latest college basketball AP Poll Top 25 rankings are here following Week 5 of the regular season! We got some more movement, as we should get every week!

After No. 1 Purdue took a loss against Iowa State, we have a new team atop the AP Poll! The chaos already started early this year and we didn’t even get to Christmas.

Without further ado, let’s dive into the latest AP Poll top 25 rankings. We’ll start with the top team in college basketball.

1. Arizona (+1)

The Wildcats dominated a ranked Auburn team 97-68 over the weekend and topped the new AP Poll. Arizona led by 12 at halftime.

In the win, Koa Peat had 18 points, four rebounds and five assists. Jaden Bradley and Brayden Burries each had 16 points in the victory.

2. Michigan (+1)

Michigan cruised to an 8-0 start on the season by dominating Big Ten foe Rutgers, 101-60. The Wolverines doubled up the Scarlet Knights 50-25 in the first half.

Morez Johnson led the way with 22 points and four rebounds. Yaxel Lendeborg added 14 points, eight rebounds and three assists in the win.

3. Duke (+1)

Duke had two massive ranked wins in the past week, beating Florida 67-66 and Michigan State 66-60. Pretty good weekend to move up the AP Poll!

The Blue Devils had the marquee matchup with the Spartans Saturday and Cameron Boozer led the way with 18 points, 15 rebounds and five assists. Caleb Foster added 12 points, four rebounds and two assists.

4. Iowa State (+6)

Iowa State might’ve made the biggest statement among the AP Poll Top 10 teams. The Cyclones dominated Purdue on the road 81-58, knocking them from the ranks of the unbeaten and No. 1.

Milan Momcilovic had 20 points, one rebounds and one assist. Killyan Toure had 13 points, five rebounds and one assist in the victory.

5. UConn

UConn edged Kansas 61-56 last Tuesday and dominated East Texas A&M 83-59 and improved to 8-1. As it stands, they’re high up the AP Poll after Week 5.

In that win over Kansas, Solo Ball had 17 points, two rebounds and two assists. Braylon Mullins also put up 17 points and added five rebounds.

6. Purdue (-5)

Speaking of Purdue, yikes! Look, games like this can happen and it’s such a rare feat to go undefeated in this day and age. But the Boilermakers got smacked by Iowa State, at home no less, and fell in the AP Poll.

Braden Smith had 11 points, five rebounds and eight assists. Daniel Jacobsen and Oscar Cluff both put up 10 points a piece.

7. Houston (+1)

Houston beat down Florida State 82-67 at home on Saturday to stay within the top 10 of the AP Poll and improve to 8-1. After building an eight point lead at halftime, the Cougars cruised to another win.

Emanuel Sharp put up 27 points and three assists and Kingston Flemings had 21 points, three rebounds and five assists. How about Chris Cenac? He had 15 points, 10 rebounds and three assists.

8. Gonzaga (+3)

After losing to Michigan in late-November, Gonzaga made a statement to stay in the top 10 of the AP Poll. They beat a ranked Kentucky team 94-59 and dominated North Florida 109-58 over the last week.

In the win over Kentucky, Graham Ike had 28 points, 10 rebounds and three assists. Braden Huff added 20 points, two rebounds and three assists.

9. Michigan State (-2)

Michigan State beat Big Ten foe Iowa 71-52 earlier last week but fell to Duke 66-60 on Saturday. The Spartans remained in the top 10 of the AP Poll though after suffering their first loss of the season.

In the loss, Carson Cooper had 16 points, 16 rebounds and one assist. Jaxon Kohler added 14 points, seven rebounds and two assists.

10. BYU (-1)

BYU kept it rolling on Wednesday with a 91-60 win over Cal Baptist to improve to 7-1 on the season. With the win, the Cougars stayed within the top 10 of the AP Poll.

AJ Dybantsa had 22 points, five rebounds and five assists in the victory. Keba Keita had 22 points and 14 points to add.
