Each week, On3’s Matt Zenitz selects coordinators of the week from each Power 5 conference as well as two from the Group of 5 ranks.

Here are the On3 coordinators of the week from Week 5.

ACC

Clemson DC Wes Goodwin
Goodwin’s defense held NC State to its lowest yards per play total since 2019 (4.0) during Clemson’s 30-20 victory over the then-No. 10 Wolfpack. NC State had just 13 points through 59 minutes before a meaningless late touchdown.

Big 12

TCU OC Garrett Riley
Riley’s offense racked up 668 yards during TCU’s 55-24 win over then-No. 18 Oklahoma. The Horned Frogs had eight touchdowns in the first three quarters in building a 55-17 lead.

Big Ten

Nebraska DC Bill Busch
In his first game as Nebraska’s DC, Busch’s defense held Indiana to 290 yards and 14 offensive points during a 35-21 win over the Hoosiers. Indiana was 2-of-15 on third downs. It came after the Huskers allowed an average of 41.7 points in their first three games against FBS opponents under previous DC Erik Chinander.

Pac-12

Washington State DC Brian Ward
Aided by Ward and his defense, Washington State bounced back from a tough loss to Oregon with a 28-9 win over California. The Cougars’ defense tallied four sacks and held running back Jaydn Ott to 69 rushing yards one week after he ran for 274 yards in a Cal win over Arizona.

SEC

Ole Miss DC Chris Partridge
Partridge’s defense helped Ole Miss come away with a 22-19 win over then-No. 7 Kentucky. The Rebels limited star QB Will Levis and the Wildcats to 328 total yards while recording nine tackles for loss, three sacks and two takeaways. The second takeaway, a strip-sack with 51 seconds remaining, sealed the win for Ole Miss.

Group of 5 OC

UTSA co-OC Will Stein
UTSA finished with 590 yards and six touchdowns in a 45-30 win over Middle Tennessee. The Roadrunners’ victory came one week after Middle Tennessee’s upset of Miami during which the Hurricanes were held to 367 yards and three offensive touchdowns.

Group of 5 DC

James Madison DC Bryant Haines
Haines’ defense held Texas State to 246 yards during a 40-13 win that improved the Dukes to 4-0. James Madison – in its first season as a FBS school – had four takeaways, including a second-quarter pick-six that gave JMU a 19-0 lead.
