Each week, On3’s Matt Zenitz takes a look at some interesting stats coming out of that weekend’s games. Here are nine such stats coming out of Week 11.

2.2: Penn State held Maryland to 2.2 yards per play (134 yards on 60 plays) during a 30-0 victory over the Terrapins. It’s the second-lowest yards-per-play average this season for a Power 5 team. Maryland had 27 yards on 27 plays in the first half.

8a: As noted by On3’s Jesse Simonton on Saturday, Brian Kelly now has won at least eight games in his first season at four of his five head-coaching jobs (Grand Valley State, Cincinnati, Notre Dame and LSU). Led by Kelly, LSU is 8-2 and has locked up a berth in the SEC title game after finishing 6-7 last season.

8b: During LSU’s win over Arkansas on Saturday, Tigers freshman linebacker Harold Perkins had eight tackles, four sacks and two forced fumbles. Since 2000, no other FBS player has recorded at least eight tackles, at least four sacks and multiple forced fumbles in a single game.

8c: Virginia gave up eight sacks during a 37-7 loss to Pitt. The Cavaliers, who are last in the ACC in scoring after ranking fourth-best last year, are one of just three Power 5 teams to give up at least seven sacks in multiple games this season.

293: Central Michigan true freshman quarterback Bert Emanuel Jr., the son of the former NFL wide receiver Bert Emanuel, ran for 293 yards and three touchdowns during a 31-27 victory over Buffalo. It was the highest rushing total from an FBS quarterback since Arizona’s Khalil Tate rushed for 327 yards against Colorado in 2017.

317: Alabama beat No. 11 Ole Miss 30-24 despite being held to 317 yards of total offense. Two of the Crimson Tide’s three lowest yardage outputs of the past four seasons have come during Alabama’s past three games. The only two Crimson Tide yardage totals that have been lower than Saturday in that span came during wins over Mississippi State on October 22 (290) and in 2018 (305).

408: Washington quarterback Michael Penix Jr. threw for 408 yards in the Huskies’ upset of then-No. 6 Oregon. Excluding Mike Leach’s quarterbacks at Washington State, only one other Pac-12 quarterback in the past 10 seasons has had more passing yards through 10 games than Penix (3,640) – Oregon State’s Sean Mannion with 3,860 in 2013.

548: While tallying 22 tackles during Troy’s victory over Army, Trojans linebacker Carlton Martial broke the NCAA record for tackles in a career. Martial, a 5-foot-9 former walk-on, now has 548 career tackles. The previous record belonged to Northwestern’s Tim McGarigle with 545.

1,349: After rushing for 162 yards during Michigan’s win over Nebraska, Wolverines running back Blake Corum is up to 1,349 rushing yards for the season. It’s the highest rushing total through 10 games for a Michigan running back since Anthony Thomas had 1,491 in 2000.
