Arkansas will have no one to blame but itself if it can’t hang on and spring the upset at No. 16 Oklahoma State, having led for most of the first three quarters.

But a controversial play early in the fourth quarter allowed Oklahoma State to get in position to tie the game with a two-point conversion, ultimately knotting things at 21 apiece.

The play in question came on first-and-goal from the 7-yard line. The Cowboys lined up and quickly ran a rub route concept to the left flats, getting receiver Brennan Presley free down the left sideline for a walk-in touchdown.

Initially, a flag flew for offensive pass interference. But officials picked it up after consulting with each other, and the score stood. Check out the play in question below.

The Oklahoma State radio broadcast suggested that because the pass was caught behind the line of scrimmage it was not offensive pass interference. The line of scrimmage was at the 7-yard line, and it’s difficult to see exactly where the catch is made from the angle shown above.

In any case, Oklahoma State would go on to convert a two-point conversion on a passing play, knotting the score at 21-21 in the final frame.

That came on the heels of Arkansas domination in the first half. Turnovers, though, would prove super costly for the Razorbacks.

They turned it over three times, leading directly to 18 Oklahoma State points. The Cowboys essentially had nothing going until the Razorbacks started turning it over.

Add in a missed 41-yard field goal and Arkansas has watched plenty of opportunities slip by.

Again, they’ll have no one to blame but themselves. Still, the call in question above looms as a large one in an otherwise close game.

For what it’s worth, it happened on first down, so Oklahoma State might well have punched it in anyway. But there are bound to be some unhappy Arkansas fans about the call, particularly if it proves more costly down the stretch.
