D1Baseball’s Top 25 rankings have again been shaken up after seven ranked teams dropped weekend series across college baseball. Some of the country began conference play this past weekend, while many others will kick off their league slates this upcoming weekend. If this weekend was any indication, it’s going to be a fun ride to the end of the season.

No. 2 Stanford was the highest-ranked team to drop a series, and the Cardinal went a disappointing 1-3 on the week. After losing 10-5 to Santa Clara during midweek action, Stanford then lost two games to USC to open Pac-12 play. Elsewhere in the top ten, No. 5 Wake Forest lost twice on the week after falling 13-11 to Coastal Carolina and then 8-1 to Duke. No. 10 TCU also lost twice, falling 8-7 to UT Arlington during the midweek and then 14-2 to San Diego over the weekend.

No. 11 Virginia Tech fell twice over the weekend to Boston College, marking an impressive week for the Eagles after they knocked off No. 3 Tennessee during midweek play. Two more ranked ACC teams lost their series, including No. 14 North Carolina, who dropped two games to No. 17 Virginia before salvaging a win on Sunday. No. 19 NC State also fell twice, losing their series to a Miami team that just fell out of the rankings.

No. 18 Alabama entered the week undefeated on the year, but the Crimson Tide lost a disappointing weekend series after losing 10-7 and 15-3 to Columbia. No. 23 Iowa and No. 25 Oregon State just entered the top 25 last week, and both then dropped series. Iowa fell twice against a previously ranked Texas Tech team, while Oregon State lost twice against Washington State. Both losses were very impactful in D1Baseball’s new top 25.
