The Dallas Cowboys have a large contingency at the NFL Scouting Combine for day one of the player drills in Indianapolis. Amongst the defensive ends and linebackers hitting the field on Thursday is Texas star DeMarvion Overshown. The Cowboys will keep a close eye on the potential draft pick after holding multiple interviews with him so far.

The 22-year-old from East Texas revealed he had in-depth conversations with the Cowboys staff, including Dan Quinn, when he hit the podium on Thursday.

“I’ve talked to the Cowboys a lot,” Overshown said. “You know, Dan Quinn, I’ve seen him a lot around the Texas facility while I was there, so being able to chop it up with him here during formal interviews and then talking to them at the Reese’s Senior Bowl. That defense is amazing and being able to play along some of the other guys, it would be fun.”

Cowboys eye LB addition

The inside linebacker could provide the Cowboys some depth at a position of need for 2023. Dallas has multiple linebackers hitting free agency in March, including former first-round draft pick Leighton Vander Esch.

According to Overshown, Quinn and the Cowboys staffers are already envisioning the type of impact he could make with the star on his helmet.

“[We had] great meetings,” Overshown said. “We really just watched my film. They talked about how they loved my relentless effort and there is a lot that they can do with me in their system. It was a great overall formal interview with them.”

In 2022 for the Longhorns, Overshown posted a career-high 95 tackles with four sacks and 10 tackles for loss. He was a top 50 prospect coming out of high school, according to the On3 Industry Ranking, and spent five years in Austin.

The 2023 NFL Draft takes place from Thursday, April 27 through Saturday, April 29 in Kansas City, Missouri. The event location this year is the plaza just outside of Union Station.

Round 1 of the NFL Draft begins at 8 p.m. ET on Thursday, Apr. 27. Rounds 2-3 will begin at 7 p.m. ET on Friday, Apr. 28, and Rounds 4-7 will begin at 12 p.m. ET on Saturday, Apr. 29. The draft broadcast runs throughout the weekend on both ESPN and NFL Network.

One hundred underclassmen gained approval for last year’s draft. Seventy-three of those 100 underclassmen received special eligibility while 27 of them were underclassmen who had completed their college degrees.

The 2023 NFL scouting combine will take place from Feb. 28 through March 6 in Indianapolis.
