The Dallas Cowboys have found success early in 2021, despite a wide array of injuries on both sides of the ball.

That’s the reality of the NFL, so it’s no surprise Mike McCarthy has had to tinker the roster week-to-week.

On Saturday, Cowboys reporter John Machota tweeted two players who will be activated from the practice squad for the NFC East matchup vs. New York.

On the final injury report released on Friday, Machota reported Donovan Wilson (safety) and Dorance Armstrong (defensive end) were officially ruled out for Sunday.

The Dallas Cowboys have been plagued with a bad bevy of injuries all year, from stars, young rookies and depth players.

On Friday, head coach Mike McCarthy offered a positive update on three of the most important players that had had all been listed questionable with lingering ailments throughout the week.

Defensive end Randy Gregory, running back Ezekiel Elliott and wide receiver Amari Cooper all practiced on Thursday and are expected to play this weekend.

“I don’t foresee them having any challenges,” Dallas Cowboys coach McCarthy said, per Jon Machota of The Athletic. On Friday, Machota confirmed all three have the official green light

Both Elliott and Cooper missed practice on Wednesday, Elliott with a knee injury and Cooper with a hamstring issue.

Elliott had 20 carries for 143 rushing yards and a touchdown last week against Carolina, putting together his best performance of the year and averaging 7.2 yards per carry. The showing was enough for him to win a weekly award from the NFL, as he took home FedEx Ground Player of the Week honors.

Elliott has 342 rushing yards on the season, the fourth-most in the NFL, and is averaging 5.3 yards per carry. Elliott’s back up Tony Pollard will get more reps should something limit Elliott on Sunday.

Cooper is one of Dallas’ top scoring receivers, tied with tight end Dalton Schultz for a team-leading three receiving touchdowns.

The Dallas Cowboys offense is once again humming behind quarterback Dak Prescott. Dallas has the fourth best scoring offense in the nation through four games. The Giants have struggled to find the win column, but they are coming off their first win of the season and always plays Dallas tough.
