There is some good news coming out of Dallas after suffering their third loss on the season, Sunday, against the Kansas City Chiefs. According to ESPN’s Todd Archer, fans should expect DeMarcus Lawrence to be activated off Injured Reserve this week. Lawrence has not played since the Cowboy’s season opener loss to the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. The Pro Bowl defensive end broke his foot in practice the following Wednesday.

The head coach of the Dallas Cowboys, Mike McCarthy, did not rule out the chance of Lawrence playing this Thursday versus the Oakland Raiders on Thanksgiving.

“He’ll be activated here shortly. He’s champing at the bit,” said McCarthy.

But at this point in time, there is no set plan in place beyond designating him to return.

In Lawrence’s only game of the season, he had five tackles, four of them solo, and a forced fumble.

The injury to the Cowboy’s Pro Bowl defensive end is not all gloom and doom, as it allowed the emergence of the Cowboy’s first-round pick in the 2021 NFL Draft, Micah Parsons. In Lawrence’s absence, Parsons has recorded 62 tackles, 48 of them solo, 13 tackles for loss, 18 hits on opposing quarterbacks, eight sacks, and two forced fumbles. His eight sacks are tied for 10th in the NFL and are tops on the Cowboys roster, three ahead of Randy Gregory.

Cowboys injury report versus Raiders

Did Not Practice – Cowboys: WR CeeDee Lamb(Concussion), S Donovan Wilson(Shoulder/Chest)

Lamb left the game Sunday as the first half ended after his helmet slammed into the field while a pass intended for him was intercepted. As he pivoted his body to try and disrupt the defender’s catch, and the impact on the field caused his helmet to bounce off the ground.

Lamb was assisted into the locker room after the play and was ruled out for the remainder of the game with a head injury. Dallas did not practice on Monday, but until Lamb clears concussion protocols he will not be available. The Cowboys said on Monday that Lamb’s feeling good, and they expect him to be ready for Thursday’s game.

Wilson also suffered an injury against the Kansas City Chiefs last week, as the Cowboys safety injured his shoulder and was listed as questionable to return to the game. Without any real time to recover from his injury on Monday, his designation as out from practice is not a surprise at this time.
