DJ Uiagalelei injury update: Mike Norvell reveals status vs. Clemson
Florida State head coach Mike Norvell has confirmed DJ Uiagalelei will be out on Saturday against Clemson, per Warchant. Uiagalelei suffered a hand injury in the Seminoles’ loss to SMU this past weekend. Brock Glenn is expected to start in his place.
More specifically, Uiagalelei reportedly suffered a broken finger on his throwing hand in the fourth quarter against the Mustangs. According to ESPN’s Pete Thamel, Uiagalelei is examining his options and is expected to miss at least a few weeks.
On the play Uiagalelei injured his hand, he threw a pick-six to SMU. It was only one of the numerous mistakes Uiagalelei made on Saturday.
In the loss, Uiagalelei completed five of his first six passes to lead the Seminoles to a touchdown on their opening drive. However, Uiagalelei failed to find the end zone again until midway through the third quarter.
He didn’t score again before injuring his hand and leaving the game. In the loss, Uiagalelei only completed 12-of-30 pass attempts for 222 yards and two touchdowns while throwing three interceptions.

After replacing DJ Uiagalelei, Brock Glenn failed to connect on any of his four pass attempts. On Monday, Florida State listed Uiagalelei and Glenn as co-starters on the depth chart — the first time the team has done so this season. Now, Glenn will take on Clemson as FSU’s lone QB1.
Mike Norvell weighs in on FSU’s QB dilemma
During a press conference on Monday, head coach Mike Norvell addressed the Seminoles’ dilemma at QB.
“DJ is something we’re going to evaluate throughout the course of the week and see where it goes from there,” Norvell said. “In all reality, I said it after the game, after the interception… I decided I was gonna make the change. Obviously, DJ did have the injury there but we just wanted to see that opportunity for Brock to go in and have a chance to execute.”
FSU desperately needs Glenn to step up in Uiagalelei’s absence. The 2023 ACC champions are 1-4 this season and 1-3 against ACC foes. On Saturday, the Seminoles will face off against No. 15 Clemson at 7 p.m. ET. The game will air live on ESPN.
