One of the highlights every year of the Steve Clarkson QB Retreat in Los Angeles is the longest throw contest, and this year featured one player running away with the title.

Chandler (Ariz.) five-star quarterback and 2024 No. 1 overall recruit Dylan Raiola had one of the longest throws at 72 yards, according to Adam Gorney of Rivals.

Willis (Texas) four-star quarterback DJ Lagway — who is getting looks as a potential two-sport athlete — had a throw at 67 yards

Los Alamitos (Calif.) Five-Star Plus+ quarterback Malachi Nelson and Birmingham (Ala.) Briarwood Christian four-star quarterback Christopher Vizzina tied for the best throw by a 2023 quarterback recruit at 64 yards.

Carlsbad (Calif.) four-star quarterback Julian Sayin had a 62-yard toss.

This quintet features two of the top five quarterbacks in the 2023 cycle and three of the top four quarterbacks in the 2024 cycle.

Nelson is the No. 2 overall recruit and No. 2 quarterback in the 2023 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. Vizzina is the No. 5 quarterback and No. 43 overall.

He is committed to Clemson while Nelson is committed to USC.

Raiola, who is committed to Ohio State, is ranked No. 1 overall by both On3 and the On3 Consensus.
