Elijah Fisher is the No. 33 ranked player in the 2023 On3 Consensus. He had a massive finish to his Adidas 3SSB session two with a 32-point, 18-rebound win in front of a packed baseline of college coaches.

“I’m a scorer,” Fisher told On3. “I like to score the ball, but facilitate too. Get my teammates the ball, but still take over the game and score. I watch Lebron James a lot, the way he gets his teammates involved and becomes a leader on the floor. I’m not relying on bully-ball anymore; I can get to the rack, catch and shoot, and make plays for my team.”

He has been playing varsity basketball at Toronto (CAN) Crestwood Academy since the sixth grade when he first went viral for dunking in-game. On3 caught up with Elijah Fisher after this win to see which schools are prioritizing him and how things are looking between college and a pro route.

“I have taken one visit to Texas Tech,” Fisher said. “I know I have four more visits to take, but who will get them is up in the air. Auburn talks to me, Memphis talks to me some, Arizona State dropped off, and Missouri. Not many other schools are reaching out.”

Fisher talks recruitment

Texas Tech: “Being there and seeing how things are, they are a family down there; a close-knit family. Everyone loves basketball down there, and they play hard. The program understands the value of the small things. It is all about getting to the championship with them.”

Missouri: “I know they have a new staff, but their coaches have been watching me for a while. They are building that program, and I am interested to find out more.”

Auburn: “Jabari Smith. Seeing how they played him and developed him into maybe being the No. 1 pick. They play hard and have a lot of energy.”

Memphis: “They have a good coaching staff; Penny (Hardaway) played in the pros. He knows what it takes to get to the league, and he will let you play through your mistakes.”

Pro options and 2022 or 2023?

“I have been in contact with Overtime Elite; the G-League has also reached out,” Fisher said. “We talked, but I think college might be the best route for me right now. That decision isn’t final; it’s still up in the air.

“Coming out in 2022 or 2023 is a big conversation we are having right now. I am looking through the pros and cons, and we will make the decision that will be best for my family. I am in line to graduate and be ready to come out in 2022 if that is our decision.”

On3’s take

Elijah Fisher is a strong, explosive, and physically imposing forward. He has ball skills with confidence on the ball and a vicious nature when attacking the rim. Fisher has good length at his size and is an instinctive rebounder. He is balanced and quick in transition. He gets above the rim and will finish a viral type dunk about once a game. The jump shot is coming along; still streaky, but his footwork and rhythm getting into his shot is getting better. There are questions on his motor; those did not exist in this viewing as he showed an ability to take over a game – but those are concerns. He can toggle between a switchable four and a big three, depending on lineups and style of play.
