Former Michigan star Aidan Hutchinson will serve as the guest picker on ESPN’s College GameDay Saturday. The pregame show will be in Ann Arbor for “The Game” between Michigan and Ohio State.

Hutchinson was the No. 2 overall pick in the 2022 NFL Draft by his hometown Detroit Lions. He played four seasons for the Wolverines and won the Lombardi Award, Lott Trophy, Big Ten MVP, Big Ten Defensive Player of the Year, Big Ten Defensive Lineman of the Year and was a Unanimous All-American.

Hutchinson saw a lot of success in the latter stages of his Michigan career and rooted them on from afar, which included a national title win in 2023. Since being in the NFL, Hutchinson was named to the All-Rookie Team in 2022 and was a Pro Bowler in 2023.

If you’re Michigan or even ESPN from an entertainment standpoint, you should bring out all the stops for, arguably, the best rivalry in sports. That’s what Wolverines’ head coach Sherrone Moore did!

Michigan-Ohio State have another anticipated showdown

“I was talking to Coach (Chip) Lindsey about it,” Moore responded when asked about the rivalry. “He’s been a part of the Iron Bowl (Alabama vs. Auburn). We’ve talked to people that have been to the Iron Bowl and this one, and it’s just different. You can’t describe it. I can try and describe you the feeling of what it feels like, but I can’t. I remember last year going on the field with Jaishawn (Barham), and we’re running out there for warmups, and he’s like, ‘yeah, this is different.’ And Jaishawn doesn’t say much, and for him to say that, this is different.

“And so, it’s a feeling that you can’t really describe. It’s an intensity. It’s just an aura about it that you just can’t describe until you get on the field. It’s awesome to be a part of. It’s the best rivalry in sports in my opinion. It’s the funnest one as well, because it’s competitive and there’s nothing like it.”

The rivalry has been completely turned on its head in the 2020s. From 2012-2019, Ohio State won eight consecutive games against Michigan. The Wolverines, however, have now won four consecutive games in the rivalry, including a 13-10 victory over the eventual National Champions last season in Columbus.
