The book officially closed on the 2022 season Monday night when Georgia flew past TCU in an all-time national championship performance. As the dust settles, the final rankings are still coming in, including ESPN’s final power rankings of the year.

Unsurprisingly, Georgia came in at No. 1 and TCU finished at No. 2 after making it to the national title game while Michigan and Ohio State — both of which lost in the College Football Playoff semifinals — were No. 3 and No. 4, respectively.

Georgia dominated in every facet of Monday’s national championship at SoFi Stadium en route to a 65-7 shellacking of TCU. Stetson Bennett delivered one of the great performances in title game history, accounting for six touchdowns — tying Joe Burrow’s record — before getting a proper send-off in the fourth quarter.

Outside the top four, Alabama came in at No. 5 after an impressive performance in the Sugar Bowl against Kansas State. It was a grand finale for Bryce Young and Will Anderson, who both declared for the 2023 NFL Draft and are projected to be top-five picks, as the Crimson Tide knocked off the Wildcats 45-20 at the Caesars Superdome.

Three Big Ten teams appeared in ESPN’s final top 10, including Penn State, which appears poised for another big year in 2023. The Nittany Lions have quarterback Drew Allar, star running back Nicholas Singleton and offensive line staple Olu Fashanu all coming back to lead the offense while Abdul Carter is also returning to anchor the defense. Additionally, North Carolina transfer Storm Duck is in the fold on defense, adding to an impressive group for James Franklin and Co.
