Saturday featured quite a few exciting games across college basketball, including matchups between AP-ranked teams. Following all of the action, ESPN has again updated their BPI Top 25 rankings with some big changes.

Fascinating scores dominated Saturday, including Purdue falling to Indiana by a score of 79-74. Additionally, Auburn tried for an upset bid of Tennessee, but the Volunteers were able to pull out a three-point victory over their SEC foe.

Additionally, Virginia Tech upset Virginia in a shocking victory, while Oklahoma State was able to rain on TCU‘s parade with a win over the Horned Frogs. The scores will definitely shake up the rankings throughout the college basketball world.

Here’s what ESPN thinks of everything that went down this week, in their ESPN BPI Top 25 rankings.

Updated ESPN BPI Top 25 Rankings:

  1. Houston Cougars (21-2) (—)
  2. Tennessee Volunteers (19-4) (—)
  3. Alabama Crimson Tide (20-3) (+1)
  4. UCLA Bruins (19-4) (-1)
  5. Purdue Boilermakers (22-2) (+2)
  6. Texas Longhorns (19-4) (-1)
  7. Connecticut Huskies (18-6) (-1)
  8. Baylor Bears (17-6) (—)
  9. Arizona Wildcats (21-3) (+5)
  10. Rutgers Scarlet Knights (16-7) (+1)
  11. Creighton Blue Jays (15-8) (-2)
  12. Virginia Cavaliers (17-4) (—)
  13. Kansas Jayhawks (18-5) (-3)
  14. Gonzaga Bulldogs (19-5) (+1)
  15. Indiana Hoosiers (16-7) (-2)
  16. Marquette Golden Eagles (19-5) (—)
  17. St. Mary’s Gaels (21-4) (—)
  18. Iowa State Cyclones (16-6) (+3)
  19. TCU Horned Frogs (17-6) (—)
  20. Arkansas Razorbacks (16-7) (—)
  21. West Virginia Mountaineers (14-9) (+4)
  22. Maryland Terrapins (16-7) (+8)
  23. Ohio State Buckeyes (11-11) (-5)
  24. Kentucky Wildcats (16-7) (-1)
  25. Illinois Fighting Illini (16-7) (-1)

As you can see, there were some big movers throughout, but none more than the Maryland Terrapins, who gained eight spots in this week’s edition of the ESPN BPI Top 25. Maryland defeated Minnesota by 35 on Saturday for their fourth straight win, and it catapulted them into the conversation.

Elsewhere, Ohio State continues to sink like a rock. Chris Holtmann was candid in stating he’s looking for answers as the Buckeyes dealt with another loss earlier this week, and it almost has them out of the Top 25.

Alas, the top two teams remained unchanged, as Houston and Tennessee continue to chug along. Time will tell if anyone can catch them, but their spot atop the rankings remained safe for another week.
