It has been a week since the 2022 NFL Draft, and the Baltimore Ravens have officially started their Rookie Minicamp. And on Friday, fans of the team were treated to the first look of their first-round pick from Notre Dame, safety Kyle Hamilton, putting in some work on the field.

Hamilton suffered one of the biggest slides in the 2022 NFL Draft, outside of the quarterbacks. Entering the draft many believed the former Fighting Irish safety was a surefire top-5. At worse, the thought was he’d land within the top 10. Hamilton ended up falling outside the top 10 to the Ravens at pick No.14. Despite failing to go where he was projected, the 6-foot-4 defensive back now enters the fold in a playoff-caliber defense at a position of need. And in the video below Hamilton looks to be adjusting well to his new home and its work environment.

Hamilton heads to the NFL level, joining Baltimore, after putting together a successful career at Notre Dame. He tallied 34 tackles and three interceptions as a junior in 2021. The impressive part of Hamilton’s college career is not his stats but his versatility. The Fighting Irish used Hamilton all over the field not just in the secondary. Against teams like the Wisconsin Badgers, Notre Dame lined him up in the box to help stop the run. And against the aerial assault from North Carolina, Hamilton spent much of the game in the secondary. Hamilton’s career is highlighted by 138 total tackles and eight interceptions over three seasons with the Fighting Irish.

While his fall may seem like a bad thing on the outside; there is a silver lining. Hamilton will miss out on a few million with the fall, but he’s is in a prime position to carve out a home with a team that has an established culture, especially on the defensive side of the ball. And although this is just a preview of what their future safety can do, given the tape he put together at Notre Dame, Ravens fans can be assured that the future of their secondary is in elite hands with Hamilton.
