Greer (S.C.) IMG Academy five-star tight end Jaleel Skinner has changed his commitment date to Oct. 8 due to “family circumstances.”

The announcement will be at 3:30 p.m. EST on Friday, and will be broadcast on CBS Sports. Oct. 8 is Jaleel Skinner’s birthday.

Skinner tweeted the change Sunday afternoon.

He was originally set announce his commitment on Oct. 9, which had been set for two months.

Who is Jaleel Skinner choosing between?

Jaleel Skinner announced a top five of Alabama, Clemson, Florida State, Miami and Texas in July.

But he also told On3’s Chad Simmons that he has not ruled out any school and is still talking to schools outside his top five — including Florida.

The five-star made the most of IMG Academy’s bye week this weekend. He went down to Miami to watch the Hurricanes take on Virginia on Thursday night. Jaleel Skinner then travelled up the Atlanta Coast to watch Clemson battle Boston College on Saturday night.

Neither Miami nor Clemson put on its best performance this week with the Hurricanes losing to the Cavs and the Tigers just edging out the Eagles.

Jaleel Skinner has made only other visit this season. He was in The Swamp for Florida’s marquee matchup against the Crimson Tide on Sept. 19.

What makes Skinner the country’s top TE recruit?

Jaleel Skinner is the best tight end recruit in the country and the nation’s only five-star player at the position.

He is the No. 17 recruit in the 2022 On300 and is likely to be an immediate contributor — if not, starter — on whichever team he commits to Friday.

Skinner is a big target at 6-foot-5 with excellent hands. He is skinnier than one would like at tight end and will need to add some weight to his frame to reach his potential as a blocker.

But Jaleel Skinner has the potential to be one of the best tight ends in college football.
