Former Michigan State small forward Gabe Brown has scheduled 15 workouts leading up to the 2022 NBA Draft and is a strong contender to be drafted at 40th-50th overall, per college basketball insider Adam Zagoria. The former Michigan State standout was also invited to next week’s NBA G League Camp in Chicago, Illinois.

Brown also worked out on Thursday for the New York Knicks in a group setting and according to Zagoria, the franchise is looking at him as a potential candidate for their second-round pick (No. 42 overall).

Last season, the 6-foot-8, 215-pound senior averaged 11.6 points per game, 3.8 rebounds per game, and 1.1 assist per game. He played big in some of the Spartans’ biggest games, including their Round of 32 matchup in the 2022 NCAA Tournament against the Duke Blue Devils. The Ypsilanti, Michigan native poured in 18 points in that one in the losing effort, while also grabbing two rebounds. That game was a classic and one of the best games of the 2021-2022 college basketball season.

Brown was one of the best three-point shooters in the nation during his four-year career with the Spartans and he even connected on 42 percent of his shots from beyond-the-arc during the 2020-2021 college basketball season.

Coming out of Belleville High School (Belleville, Michigan), Brown was rated as a four-star prospect and the No. 66 overall player in America, according to the On3 Consensus Rankings for the 2018 cycle. The Michigan native was named a Class A first team selection by the Detroit Free Press for 2018.

Brown stuffed the stat sheet with 18.5 points, 5.7 rebounds, 2.1 assists, and 1.2 blocks per game in guiding Belleville to the Class A Regional Finals in the state playoffs that year. A prolific shooter from beyond-the-arc, he also connected on 42 percent of his three-point attempts that season. As a junior during the 2017 season, Brown also drilled 41 percent of his shots from deep.
