Watts, a Detroit native, is headed back home to the state of Michigan to finish out his college career. The 6-foot-2 junior guard played last season at Mississippi State, averaging 4.4 points, 0.9 rebounds, and 0.6 assists in just 13 mins of play per game.

Prior to landing in Starkville, Watts spent his first two seasons at Michigan State under Tom Izzo. During his freshman year with the Spartans, Watts averaged nine points, 2.3 rebounds, and 1.7 assists per game in approximately 22 mins an outing. During his sophomore year in East Lansing, his numbers remained relatively the same — 7.7 points, 1.7 rebounds, and 2.7 assists.

Since this is Watts’ second time transferring, he will need to apply for a waiver in order to be eligible next season.

Coming out of high school, Watts was considered a four-star prospect. During his senior season, he attended SPIRE Academy in Ohio alongside current Charlotte Hornets star LaMelo Ball. Watts committed to the Michigan State Spartans in 2018, choosing the home-state program over offers from Florida State, Alabama, Michigan, UConn, Louisville, Illinois, and others.
