Thanksgiving is continually one of the best times to watch college basketball, with teams across the country playing elite nonconference matchups. One of the best in the Fort Myers Tip-Off, playing in sunny Florida during the holiday week. While the 2022 field is already set, the midseason tournament has reportedly found its four teams for 2023.

According to Jon Rothstein, SMU, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin will head down to Fort Myers, Florida in November 2023 for the event. All four will be participating for the first time in their respective program’s history. The exact matchups have not been announced yet.

The Fort Myers Tip-Off is a simple four-team bracket, with the two winners facing off against one another, while the two losers will get a game as well. At the very least, the four teams involved will get two games against other top-level programs.

More on Fort Myers Tip-Off

SMU, Virginia, West Virginia, and Wisconsin have an event scheduled for the 2023-2024 season but will be focusing on their squads this year. All have been competitive over the past few years, with all four making the NCAA Tournament over the past five seasons — if you don’t include the canceled event in March 2020.

Fox Sports is the broadcasting partner for the event, with both Fox and FS1 airing games. Rocket Mortage currently sponsors the Fort Myers Tip-Off, while the Suncoast Credit Union Arena is the host venue. Nearly 3,500 fans can pack in there if anybody plans on making a Thanksgiving vacation to Fort Myers.

No official date has been announced either. If you base it on the 2022 event, where four teams will play Monday, Nov. 21 through Wednesday, Nov. 23, then Nov. 20-Nov. 22, 2023 is a safe bet. Still a long way away, more details will be released in the future.
