Jaden Schutt, one of the best shooting guards in the class of 2022, already has a few college visits under his belt. The Yorkville, Illinois native has been to Illinois, Michigan State, Iowa, and Wisconsin.

Schutt’s Thoughts on the Illinois Fighting Illini

Schutt, a 6-5 sharpshooter, made the two hour drive out to Champaign to unofficially visit the Fighting Illini first.

“It was my first time seeing coaches since COVID,” he said. “Illinois had been recruiting me for quite a bit so it was more about meeting them and to see the facilities. It was definitely a cool visit and it was good to get to know the coaches.”

Ilinois, the in-state program recruiting Schutt, has seen great success on the court as of recent, finishing second in the Big 10 conference.

Schutt’s Thoughts on the Michigan State Spartans

Next, Schutt took an official visit to East Lansing, Michigan to see the Spartans.

“I got to play an open gym with the guys and hang out with the guys on the team,” he said. “So that was really cool. I know a few of the guys, Malik Hall and Max Christie.”

It’s important to note that Schutt’s AAU team, the Illinois Wolves, is the former team of Michigan State freshman Max Christie.

Schutt’s Thoughts on the Iowa Hawkeyes

Finally, Schutt made the trip to Iowa City to see the Hawkeyes.

Schutt said he got “talk to Fran (McCaffery) and Billy Taylor…met with Fran in his office and went over play style and how I’d fit in. Then watched a workout so I got to talk to the guys and got to see what a skill session is for them. It was definitely a good learning experience.”

Iowa, one of his first scholarship offers, are coming off a hot season, finishing third in the Big 10 conference.

Schutt’s Thoughts on the Wisconsin Badgers

Lastly, Schutt traveled only a couple hours away from home to Madison, Wisconsin to visit the Badgers.

Schutt said he “met with Coach Gard and talked a lot on academics. They have a beautiful campus. It’s definitely a cool college town.”

Scutt’s Thoughts on an offer from Duke

Schutt says the offer “just came out of the blue. I didn’t even know I was on their radar. My coach was like ‘hey, Duke is gonna call’. It was definitely a surreal experience.”

Schutt also mentioned to me that Duke was his ‘dream school’, making that scholarship offer, all the more meaningful.

Fun fact about Jaden Schutt: He holds the Illinois state record with 17 three-pointers made in a single game. College coaches have started to catch on to this sharpshooter’s ability as he now holds over 20 offers, with new interest from both Kentucky and Gonzaga. Schutt also says he plans to take all five official visits and won’t make a decision until the late signing period.
