Class of 2023 four-star prospect Jamari McDowell tells On3 he’s down to four schools: Kansas, Texas A&M, Wake Forest, and Xavier.

The 6-foot-5, 180-pound combo guard from Manvel (Texas) High also received offers from Alabama, Mississippi State, Kansas State, Georgetown, Ole Miss, and others.

Besides Kansas, each of McDowell’s finalists has hosted him for an official visit.

McDowell is a three-star recruit that ranks 145th nationally in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies. On3’s evaluators are much higher than the industry on McDowell, ranking him as a four-star recruit and 109th nationally.

Jamari McDowell breaks down each program

Kansas: “I haven’t visited there yet but Coach Self and Coach Case seem to be really good people. It’s Kansas and they are telling me that they’re graduating four guards so that there’s room to come in and play early.”

Texas A&M: “A&M had a really good pitch with Coach Buzz and Coach Lyle. There are great resources there as well and they are really good people.”

Wake Forest: “Wake was my first official and they set the bar pretty high. Coach Forbes, Woodley, Joe Savage, and all those guys are good people too and I rock with them.”

Xavier: “Xavier with Coach Miller and Cohen was also a really nice setup. They’ve been recruiting me for a while and I really loved it tons of resources also, just like Wake.”

Lastly, McDowell had this to say.

“All of these schools made my list because of opportunity, their style of play, and the way they made my family feel. Even though I haven’t visited KU yet, we’ve been on the phone and I can tell they’re organic people so it’ll be fun to see what I end up doing. I’m still not sure myself.”
