Manvel (Texas) High four-star recruit Jamari McDowell tells On3 he will announce his college decision on September 24th.

A few weeks ago, the 6-foot-5 combo guard announced his final four schools: KansasTexas A&MWake Forestand Xavier. McDowell has officially visited each of his finalists and says he hopes to return to Texas A&M and Wake Forest “soon”.

Jamari McDowell ranks as the No. 84 overall prospect in the 2023 class, according to the On3 Consensus, the average ranking from all four major recruiting media companies.

McDowell breaks down finalists

In a previous interview with On3, McDowell discussed each of his final four schools.

Kansas: “I haven’t visited there yet but Coach Self and Coach Case seem to be really good people. It’s Kansas and they are telling me that they’re graduating four guards so that there’s room to come in and play early…

“I mean, it’s Kansas; they’re a blue blood. They’re telling me they like my game and think I would be a good fit in their backcourt. They see me playing the one/two.”

Note: Since this quote, McDowell has now visited the Jayhawks.

Texas A&M: “A&M had a really good pitch with Coach Buzz and Coach Lyle. There are great resources there as well and they are really good people…

“A&M was cool too. The campus is close to my home. My favorite part of the visit was the film session we had.”

Wake Forest: “Wake was my first official and they set the bar pretty high. Coach Forbes, Woodley, Brooks Savage, and all those guys are good people too and I rock with them…

“Wake was a good vibe. They had a lot of new things for the program. My favorite part of the visit was probably going to the gym and watching the practice.”

Xavier: “Xavier with Coach Miller and Cohen was also a really nice setup. They’ve been recruiting me for a while and I really loved it tons of resources also, just like Wake…

“Xavier was also a really good place. They were smaller, and everything was close together. I’d say my favorite part had to be going to the Cintas Center and putting up some shots.”

What is McDowell looking for in a school?

“I want to play for a good coach. I’m looking closely at the school’s resources, their NIL, and where they see me fitting in on the team.”
