When it comes to The Bordelons, LSU runs in the family.

2025 New Orleans (La.) Isidore Newman OL Brett Bordelon committed to the Tigers on Saturday while back on campus. Bordelon picked LSU over Texas and Georgia, who both got the four-star sophomore mauler on campus for visits for games this fall.

Ultimately, the youngest Bordelon followed the same path as his father Ben and older brother Bo, but had the bigger picture in mind.

“I wanted to kick off the 2025 class strong,” said Bordelon, who was the first offer handed out by Brian Kelly after landing the job in Baton Rouge last year. He’s also the first in-state commitment for Kelly’s Tigers.

“One big thing I am looking for is to be on a team that I’m comfortable with and that will win a national championship in the next few years. I want to be playing for and win a championship when I’m playing.”

The 6-foot-4, 265-pounder has been an impact starter for Newman the past two seasons. Last spring, Bordelon shifted to left tackle and protected Arch Manning’s blindside.

Bordelon is the first piece of what he anticipates to be a memorable haul by the Tigers in 2025 kickstarted by the legacy lineman.

“The recruiting process has been a great process for me,” Bordelon told On3. “I was fortunate enough to have visited multiple universities and meet some really great people along the way. We wanted to go see what was out there and find the best spot that I was comfortable in and was the best fit for me. All of the visits I took were amazing and I am grateful I had the chance to see them all.”

“Over the last few weeks,” he continued, “it became clear for me where to go … LSU. I feel like I am meant to be at LSU. LSU is like my family. It’s in my blood, and I will do whatever it takes to make LSU successful and win a national championship.”

Bordelon’s father played on the offensive line for the Tigers in the early 1990s. Last year, LSU inked his older brother Bo, who appeared in two games as a freshman.

Brett’s commitment to LSU makes him a second-generation Tiger like Bo, something he’s been anxious to realize since before his recruitment ever even took off.

“I’ve grown up a Tiger fan. It’s no secret my dad played there in the 90s. Our family has continued to be Tigers fans my whole life. I can remember some of my earliest childhood memories being in Tiger Stadium, always at games and around the program. Some of my dad’s best friends are his old teammates and I call them uncles.

“My best friend and big brother Bo plays for LSU. He’s helped me so much with football and life. I hear him talk about how much he loves being and playing LSU, and that was big factor for me committing now. He loves his coaches, the staff, his teammates, the school, and the fans. He fully believes in Coach Kelly and truly believes in the process. Seeing the impact Coach Kelly has made so quickly is awesome. I know he will win a championship at LSU soon. I want to be a part of that.”
