The Texans have inked former Texas A&M offensive lineman Kenyon Green to his rookie contract. According to Aaron Wilson to Pro Football Network, Houston has locked-up a cornerstone of their offensive future.

“Texans have agreed to terms and are signing first-round draft pick Kenyon Green to a four-year rookie contract with $15.9 million fully guaranteed, according to a league source @AggieFootball #Texans,” tweeted Wilson. “.. Deal includes an $8.7 million signing bonus.”

Green became a member of the Texans during the 2022 NFL Draft, where Houston selected the former Aggies star No. 15 overall.

Moreover, Green is expected to play guard at the next level, but has experience across the entire offensive line. With some injuries occurring for Texas A&M last season, the versatile lineman played at every position — except center —eventually winning the team’s Offensive MVP award. Also, Green was named an AP First-team All-American.

During his time with Texas A&M, Green was a starter from Day One. He debuted during the 2019 season against Texas State, and from there didn’t miss a game. Living up to the hype as a five-star, Green was one of the best to come through the SEC over the past few seasons.

Additionally, Kenyon Green was a top-rated recruit coming out of high school. According to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting services, he was the top interior offensive lineman in the country, and No. 1 in his home state of Texas. He was a five-star prospect and No. 9 overall in the country.

What NFL Draft analysts are saying about Kenyon Green

Continuing, Kenyon Green was scouted by Lance Zierlein of NFL.com, where he thinks the offensive lineman will be an impact starter within his first two years. Zierlein believes Green’s best quality is his run blocking, calling it “dominant” at times. Now with the Texans, he’s hoping to prove Zierlein’s analysis correct.

“Guard prospect with NFL-ready frame who plays with an impressive level of consistency as a run blocker,” Zierlein said. “Green moves defenders from Point A to Point B against their will, using hand technique and road-grading leg drive. He possesses adequate foot quickness to operate in a variety of run schemes but needs to eliminate his tendency to grab when his opponent is slipping away from the block. He has pop and anchor in pass protection but lacks recognition and mirror technique needed to be at his best against athletic interior rushers.

“While Green has some areas to improve, his run blocking can be dominant, which gives him a chance to become a good starter very quickly.”
