Hudson Greer averaged 11.5 points and 4.3 rebounds as a freshman at Austin (TX) Lake Travis High. The 6-foot-6 wing also shot 39 percent from three on 114 attempts for the season.

“I get to the basket pretty well,” Greer told On3. “When the defense steps up I can hit the mid-range, and I shoot the three confidently. My handle developed this summer, and that makes the game so much easier. I watch a lot of Jayson Tatum, how he breaks down his defenders, and he can still pass out of it.”

College coaches have taken notice of the sharp-shooting wing. On3 caught up with Hudson Greer to talk about early recruiting.

“Right now, I have offers from Saint Louis, Texas Tech, Kansas State, and SMU,” Greer said. “

Greer talks offers

Kansas State: “Coach (Jerome) Tang is a great coach. Coach Ulrich (Maligi) is a great guy, and we’ve been building a relationship. I really like what they’re saying.”

Texas Tech: “They called my high school coach to say they wanted to offer me. They got on the phone with my dad, and we all had a great conversation, and they offered. They play really good defense; I love how they teach help defense. I love everything they do.”

SMU: “They have a new coach. I talked with him, Coach (Rob) Lanier, on the phone a couple of times. He was a really good dude to me. I don’t know much about them because it is so early in my recruitment, but I’d love to check them out.”

Greer’s take

“I’ll want there to be a coach who is there for me,” Greer said. “I don’t really care about the location; I just want to go there to work with no distractions.

“I grew up loving Duke, but since Coach K (Mike Krzyzewski) retired, I don’t have a dream school.

“My aunt, Julie (Greer) Lloyd, played basketball at Loyola Marymount, and my dad, Joshua Greer, played at Saint Mary’s.”

On3’s take

Hudson Greer has a good frame with nice positional size. You can tell he is young and has some maturing to do when it comes to strength. He is a bursty athlete with good straight-line bounce. He can get on the rim in the half-court and throw it down in traffic. Greer is a smooth three-point shooter with deep range. He has a quick release and shoots with outstanding balance. Greer will need to continue tightening the handle, but he can play off one and two dribbles to get to his spots in the mid-range. Greer already carries multiple high major offers; he is trending as a national prospect in the 2025 class.
