Jamie Kaiser moved up to No. 37 in the recent On3 2023 rankings update. The 6-foot-5 wing had a big summer, helping lead his New World travel team to the Adidas 3SSB championship game.

Kaiser’s stock rose significantly when he said he would give up football to focus solely on basketball. Kaiser had power-five offers from Maryland and Pittsburgh while getting recruited by others.

Kaiser took early official visits to Maryland, Virginia, Indiana, Wisconsin, and Harvard. On3’s Joe Tipton announced a final three of Virginia, Indiana, and Maryland, with a commitment date coming on Sunday.

Let’s rank the contenders.

1. Maryland

Maryland has been the perceived favorite for a long time in this recruitment. New head coach Kevin Willard did a good job of establishing a relationship, and the staff has done an excellent job of emphasizing building a fence around the DMV area.

Kaiser grew up watching their games and has familiarity with the campus and the program. You did not see a game Kaiser played this summer without a Maryland logo, most of the time multiple, sitting courtside. The four-star took his official visit on June 9.

Maryland’s chances: 75-percent

2. Indiana

Indiana made a late push and got Kaiser’s final visit on July 26. They put the full-court press on Kaiser, and he paid attention to the program’s history and Mike Woodson’s NBA background. The Hoosier staff was two or three deep for most of Kaiser’s games in July.

Indiana’s chances: 15-percent

3. Virginia

Virginia had Kaiser’s ear from the get-go. Tony Bennett immediately had his respect, and Kaiser spoke about the recent national championship the Cavaliers won.

Kaiser also recognized their system and the wings and guards it had put into the league. Bennett and the staff were very present during July for Kaiser’s games. Kaiser took his official visit to Virginia on June 2.

Virginia’s chances: 10-percent

The interesting part is all three of these schools offered within the same three-day span in May.

Indiana got the last official visit, but it was Maryland who got Kaiser on campus last. Sources close to the recruitment said that Kaiser came for a final unofficial visit earlier this week. While Indiana pushed, intel says the Maryland staff was able to weather the storm and close things up with this visit.
