Is Gonzaga the leader for Top-50 Kaden Cooper? Will Texas, LSU get visits?

Kaden Cooper is the No. 40 ranked player in On3’s 2023 rankings. The 6-foot-5 wing is averaging 11.7 points, 8.3 rebounds, 2.9 assists, 1.8 steals, and 1.3 blocks while knocking down 1.1 3-pointers per game on the Adidas 3SSB Circuit.

“My jump shot has been consistent this summer,” Cooper told On3. “I feel like my passing has grown too, but my shot has really come along. I watch a lot of Mikal Bridges and Donovan Mitchell. They’re both real active on both ends and can score while making plays for the team.”

During each live period this summer, college coaches have lined the baselines to watch him. On3 caught up with Kaden Cooper during 3SSB Rock Hill to talk about his recruitment and visits.

“I’ve taken official visits to Oklahoma and Gonzaga,” Cooper said.

Cooper talks visits

Oklahoma: “It’s a great school. Their atmosphere is great. Norman loves Oklahoma; they take pride in their team and show a lot of love.”

Gonzaga: “They’re really workers up there. They don’t necessarily brag about what they do; they’re just in the gym. They work, and they send players into the league.”

Remaining visits

“I’m working with Texas to get a date set, and hopefully, we can get something with LSU,” Cooper said. “We’re shooting for Fall dates, around September with them.”

LSU: “They fit my playstyle. They’re a fast team, play upbeat, and try to get out in transition. They just got dogs on both ends of the floor.”

Texas: “They play hard there. Their team is mature, and I feel like Austin is a place where I can grow.”

“Virginia and Villanova are two schools who have been watching me pretty closely and been in contact but haven’t offered yet,” Cooper said.

Cooper’s take

“I’m going to be looking for a school that just feels right,” Cooper said. “A coach who greets me when I walk in, and we have a comfort level with each other, like a family. I’ll be looking for a program where the team is together, like a brotherhood.

“I can play in any playstyle, I would prefer a fast-paced system, but that won’t be a determining factor, really. I won’t really worry much about location in this process.”
