Jacksonville Jaguars’ head Coach Urban Meyer made it abundantly clear that opposing teams aren’t wanted in his team’s stadium for the 2021 season. Meyer rallied Jaguars fans at training camp with a message that got straight to the point.

Meyer addressed season-ticket holders over the weekend, saying they need to take back their stadium, and emphasized how allowing other fans into their stadium has got to stop.

Jacksonville Jaguars new found energy

The Jaguars’ last appearance in the playoffs came in 2017 where they lost to the New England Patriots in the AFC Conference Championship. The past five seasons have been underwhelming for the Jags. The additions of Urban Meyer and Trevor Lawrence have brought new energy.

Momentum and anticipation have been building in Jacksonville this offseason. Meyer’s fresh slate has given each of his players a bit of an edge during the training camp as well. The team has a lot to prove and Meyer has made it clear that competition starts now and everything will be measured and those metrics will determine who makes the team.

According to John Oehser and Ashlyn Sullivan, “I want to take the subjectivity out of it. It’s not fair to a player to not have objectiveness in there. That means charting everything. Not yet. Nothing’s competitive yet. Starting Monday, we try to take the subjectivity out of who plays and who makes the team,” said Meyer.

Urban Meyer’s high praises for Tim Tebow

In addition to Lawrence and Meyer, the Jaguars have brought in a fan-favorite in Tim Tebow. Many are skeptical that the former Meyer signal-caller at Florida will stick because he has missed the last six years and hasn’t taken an offensive snap in nine. However, Meyer has continued to have the utmost faith in him and recently spoke highly of him on Cris Collinsworth’s Pro football Focus Podcast.

“They said, ‘Wow, this guy’s ball skills, he’s a great athlete, he looks like he’s 18 years old, not 20-whatever-he-is, 33,” Meyer said.
