Jesse McCulloch is the No. 91 player in the 2024 On3 150. The 6-foot-9 forward is coming off a 16-point performance that saw him go 3-of-4 from three at Flyin’ to the Hoop.

“I can be a pick-and-roll pick-and-pop threat,” McCulloch told On3. “I’m a big man who can guard and is really good at passing. I’ll watch a lot of Anthony Davis; he’s my favorite player in the league. He can put the ball on the floor; he’s got a jumper and a post-game. He’s just got great skills.”

On3 caught up with Jesse McCulloch after a live viewing to talk about his recruitment, visits, and possible time frames.

McCulloch talks officials

“I haven’t taken any official visits yet,” McCulloch said. “I do plan on taking an official visit to Michigan State soon.”

Michigan State: “The way the coaches keep in contact with my family and me, that is one of my favorite things about the program. I’ve been watching them a lot this year. Coach (Tom) Izzo told me I’m going to be able to come in and do pick and pops. Basically, just play my game, and it fits in with what they do.”

McCulloch breaks down recruitment

“I’m also hearing a lot from Alabama, Indiana, Michigan, and Ohio State,” McCulloch said.

Alabama: “They’re winning a lot of games right now. They play really fast, and I like that about their style of play too.”

Michigan: “I’ve been watching them, and I like how they play. They play through their bigs and let their bigs get touches all over the floor.”

Ohio State: “They like the way I shoot the ball. I’ve seen them a lot. I can pick and pop and rebound there. When I went on an unofficial there, the people stood out. I’m an Ohio kid, so they showed a lot of love.”

Indiana: “I went down there for an unofficial. Their dorms, their fans; the atmosphere is really great over there. He lets his bigs shoot the ball if they can, but they also play in the post.”

In his words

“I’m thinking about ending my recruitment a little early for my family,” McCulloch said. “I don’t know exactly when yet, but like earlier in 2023, probably.

“I want to go somewhere that feels like home. A place where I can make mistakes on the court but still be allowed to play through them. Style of play will matter, kind of. I really want to go into a system where I can play my game and learn from a coach to be great.”
