Sardis (Miss.) North Panola four-star wide receiver JJ Harrell revealed his top eight schools on Saturday. They are LSU, Tennessee, Florida State, Oregon, Penn State, Mississippi State, Arkansas and Memphis.

Harrell is the No. 276 overall prospect and No. 42 wide receiver in the 2024 cycle, according to the On3 Consensus, a complete and equally weighted industry-generated average that utilizes all four major recruiting media companies. He is also the No. 7 player in Mississippi.

Mississippi State received two unofficial visits from the 6-foot-2, 175-pound wideout, most recently on Nov. 5. Memphis received one on Sept. 24.

Harrell has an On3 NIL Valuation of $15.6K. The On3 NIL Valuation is an index that looks to set the standard market value for both high school and college-level athletes. The NIL valuation does not act as a tracker of the value of NIL deals an athlete has completed to date. It rather signifies an athlete’s value at a certain moment in time.

Harrell discusses some of his top schools

Harrell spoke with On3’s Sam Spiegelman on Oct. 10 about his recruitment. During their conversation, he discussed multiple programs that made his top eight.

Arkansas: “The call with Arkansas went very well actually because (secondary) coach (Demarkus) Bowman has some history with North Panola football. He used to help out the DBs at our school. I was very young then, but I still remember him, and that’s my guy! Everything about the call was memorable. It was most definitely surreal.”

Memphis: “The coaches and the recruiting office checks in on me mostly every day, just making sure I’m good and all. They made me feel at home when I visited. The locker room atmosphere was amazing after the game and I love everything about Memphis.”

Oregon: “The Oregon connection was special. Me and (running backs) coach (Carlos Locklyn) grew a close relationship in such a short amount of time and I’m still in shock. I can’t do anything but thank God.”

“Oregon has been a dream school of mine since elementary school,” he added. “I used to always tell my friends I love Oregon.”

Penn State: “Penn State definitely caught me off guard. Penn State is a great school. All of this is hitting me all at once, so I’m still sort of processing it all right now, but I appreciate the offer from Penn State. Coach Walker is my dog.”

Harrell also spoke with Billy Embody of The Bengal Tiger after receiving an offer from LSU.

“LSU have always been a school I loved ever since I was a little one. Odell (Beckham) was my favorite player to ever play in a LSU uniform. That was what had me hooked on LSU. So it was very surreal to get an offer from them. It took a lot of stress off my chest to know my hard work is paying off. Shout out to my coach Randal Montgomery.”
