Things got heated at the Buffalo Bills training camp on Saturday when quarterback Josh Allen got into a fight with defensive tackle Jordan Phillips.

After Phillips appeared to run into Allen — who was wearing a red non-contact jersey — at the end of a play, the quarterback retaliated. Allen threw the football to the ground in anger before charging at Phillips and getting physical. Several Bills players got in between the two to quickly break up the fight, resulting in a scrum.

Video of the fight later made its way to Twitter via NFL reporter Dov Kleiman:

It’s unclear whether either Josh Allen or Jordan Phillips will receive any sort of punishment from the team as a result of of the fight. The starting quarterback since 2018, Allen has become one of the league’s premier passers and led the team to an AFC Championship appearance in 2020. This past season he threw for 4,407 yards and rushed for 763 more while also scoring 42 total touchdowns.

Phillips was also a member of the Bills in 2018 and 2019, but played the past two seasons with the Cardinals before signing with Buffalo this offseason. In his last season with the team, Phillips recorded a career-high 9.5 sacks to lead all Bills players.

Prior to the 2021 season, Buffalo signed Allen to a six-year contract extension worth $258 million. He responded by leading the team back to the playoffs, where it lost a crazy overtime contest against Kansas City in the divisional round. This year the Bills have their sights set on going even further, and hope they can make it to the Super Bowl for the first time in Allen’s career.

If they are to do that, they’ll need to put this fight behind them and focus on being good teammates throughout the rest of the year. Buffalo will kick off the 2022 season on Sept. 8 against the defending Super Bowl champion Los Angeles Rams.
