Four-star cornerback Julian Humphrey of Houston (Texas) Clear Lake High School has decommitted from the Florida Gators.

“I would like to give a huge thanks to the entire Florida coaching staff for giving me an opportunity to be a part of the Gator family,” Humphrey said. “But after a long conversation and a lot of thinking with my family, I have decided to decommit from the University of Florida.”

The 6-foot-2, 185 four-star corner committed to the Gators back in May. He has already visited Texas A&M and Georgia, and plans to visit Alabama in the future.

As mentioned, Georgia is one of the programs in good shape to potentially land Humphrey’s next commitment. Earlier this month, Humphrey mentioned the Bulldogs’ coaching staff track record at defensive back being appealing.

“Georgia has a lot of coaches with a lot of knowledge about my position,” Humphrey told Chad Simmons nearly three weeks ago. “They tell me I would get coached by the best if I go to Georgia, and I see what they are talking about.

“Coach [Kirby] Smart knows a lot about defensive backs. Just like Coach [Will} Muschamp and Coach Addae do. They all played defensive back and they could really coach me up and develop me.”

This summer Humphrey won the Fastest Man Challenge at The Opening, clocking in with a 4.38 40 yard dash. Here is what On3 Director of Scouting Charles Power wrote on Humphrey’s performance that weekend:

Humphrey won the fastest man challenge at The Opening Finals training camp out-running five of the nation’s fastest prospects head-to-head. The Houston area native also showed some competitiveness in a few quick 1-on-1 reps. Humphrey showed a quick break on the ball in 7-on-7. He had a few nice pass breakups and wasn’t shy about getting physical with wide receivers.

Humphrey- ranks as the No. 23 cornerback in the On300 – and has a total of 34 offers.
