ESPN College GameDay host Kirk Herbstreit has revealed his top performing coaches from Week 12’s college football slate.

It’s no surprise who comes in first place. Shane Beamer led South Carolina to a monster 63-38 win over a top-10 Tennessee team at home behind quarterback Spencer Rattler – who came in No. 1 on Herbie’s top players list – and completed 39-of-37 passing for 438 yards and six touchdowns without an interception. Beamer said post game that OC Marcus Satterfield called every play of the game.

Lincoln Riley followed in second place as USC ended up with a similar quarterback situation, as Caleb Williams completed 32-of-43 passes for 470 yards and two touchdowns. He also added eight carries for 33 yards and a touchdown and helped guide USC past in-town rival UCLA 48-45 win to keep the Trojans’ playoff hopes alive.

Here is Herbstreit’s top performing coaches:

  1. Shane Beamer, Marcus Satterfield – South Carolina Gamecocks
  2. Lincoln Riley – USC Trojans
  3. Dan Lanning – Oregon Ducks
  4. Brent Key, Andrew Thacker – Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets
  5. Clark Lea – Vanderbilt Commodores
  6. Kendal Briles – Arkansas Razorbacks

Further down the list, Dan Lanning’s Oregon Ducks bounced back nicely, defeating No. 14 Utah 20-17 after last week’s loss against No. 12 Washington. The Ducks can clinch a Pac-12 Championship game berth against USC with a win this weekend against No. 22 Oregon State.

Brent Key, Georgia tech’s interim head coach and Andrew Thacker, the Yellow Jackets’ defensive coordinator, shared the No. 4 spot on the list after ousting the white-hot No. 18 North Carolina Tar Heels 21-17. Before Saturday, UNC had only been held to under 30 points once all season.

Herbstreit rounded out his Week 12 list with Vanderbilt head coach Clark Lea and Arkansas offensive coordinator Kendal Briles. The Razorbacks clinched bowl eligibility with their big 42-27 win over No. 20 Ole Miss, and are set to take on Missouri on the road for their season finale.

Meanwhile, Vanderbilt has shocked the world the past two weeks, upsetting both Kentucky and Florida and will fight for bowl eligibility this weekend against the wounded Tennessee Volunteers.
