Another exciting weekend of college football is in the books. Previously No. 2 Iowa lost to Purdue, causing some major shakeups in the major polls entering Week 8. Following the Week 7 action, Kirk Herbstreit has revealed his top performing teams of the week.

Herbstreit’s top teams from Week 7

1. Purdue: The Boilermakers pulled off a major upset over No. 2 Iowa in Week 7. Purdue jumps into the latest AP Top 25 after the big win. The upset marks the second consecutive weekend that a top two team lost, resulting in major shakeups across college football. Purdue comes in as Herbstreit’s top Week 7 performer.

2. LSU: While LSU might be getting a lot of attention due to the announcement of the school parting ways with head coach Ed Orgeron after the season, the Tigers deserve credit for its win over Florida. Running back Tyron Davis-Price ran all over the Gators with 287 yards and three touchdowns on 36 carries. LSU’s big upset in Week 7 earns them major props from Herbstreit.

3. Utah: Utah has now won three games in a row, and this week came against Arizona State, who was ranked in the Top 25. The Utes came away with a 35-21 victory to improve to 4-2 on the season. Utah currently sits atop the Pac-12 South with a perfect 3-0 mark in conference.

4. Oklahoma State: Oklahoma State is surging, currently sitting at 6-0 and ranked at No. 8 in the nation. Week 7 was a big game, and they showed up in a big way against Texas. Oklahoma State earned a 32-24 victory over the Longhorns to continue its strong start to the season. The Cowboys are one of Herbstreit’s top performers from Week 7.

5. Air Force: Air Force is now 6-1 on the season and 3-1 in the Mountain West. Week 7 was an important game against a Boise State team that has shown it can beat quality opponents. Boise State beat BYU earlier in the year. But Air Force came away with a 24-17 victory on Saturday.

6. Washington State: Like LSU, most of the attention surrounding Washington State right now is regarding head coach Nick Rolovich being fired on Monday. But Washington State came away with an impressive 34-31 victory over Stanford on Saturday.

7. Baylor: Baylor has had a strong season and that continued on Saturday. The Bears earned a convincing 38-24 victory over BYU in Week 7, earning them honors from Herbstreit. Baylor is now 6-1 on the season and climbs to No. 20 in the AP Poll.

8. Auburn: The Tigers also climbed to No. 19 in the AP Poll following their 38-23 victory over Arkansas in Week 7. The Tigers were led by a strong performance by quarterback Bo Nix, who was 21-of-26 for 292 yards and two passing touchdowns.

9. Alabama: In need of a major bounce back after losing Texas A&M, Alabama got just that against Mississippi State. Linebacker Will Anderson wreaked havoc while Bryce Young threw for 348 yards and four touchdowns. Alabama showed that it is still a force to be reckoned with, and Herbstreit was impressed with what he saw in Week 7.

10. Ole Miss: The Rebels avoided the upset (and golf balls, water bottles, and other trash) in Knoxville with a 31-26 victory over Tennessee. Matt Corral had a record-setting performance, rushing 30 times for 195 yards. Ole Miss sits at No. 12 after Week 7.

11. UL Monroe: Liberty was viewed as a strong team coming into the year, but UL Monroe came away with the win in Week 7. Despite Liberty quarterback rushing for 157 yards and two touchdowns, UL Monroe came away with the 31-28 victory.
