A nightmare may be unfolding for the Baltimore Ravens. Early on against the Cleveland Browns, star quarterback Lamar Jackson left the game with an injury.

Apparently, Jackson hurt his foot while trying to make something happen against Cleveland. The quarterback hobbled off the field, where he entered the medical tent immediately. Afterwards, ESPN’s Diana Russini reported the former Louisville star boarded a cart.

After getting back into the locker room, the Ravens revealed Jackson is questionable to return to the game with an ankle injury.

In the middle of a tight AFC race, an injury to Jackson would be detrimental to the Ravens playoff dreams. It’s been a year defined by injuries for Baltimore, but Jackson has held the team together. If the injury is serious, the team’s morale could be completely drained.

With Lamar Jackson in the locker room, backup quarterback Tyler Huntley would be the first in-line to replace him. Earlier this season, Huntley led the Ravens to victory over the Chicago Bears.

Halftime Update: The Baltimore Ravens have ruled Lamar Jackson out for the remainder of the game. Tyler Huntley will be their signal caller.

Lamar Jackson: The MVP of the Baltimore Ravens

Without Lamar Jackson, who knows where the Baltimore Ravens would be. One thing’s for sure — the Ravens certainly wouldn’t be one of the top teams in the entire AFC.

Earlier this season, Jackson was arguably the front-runner for the NFL’s MVP Award. However, he’s still the MVP of the Baltimore Ravens.

Getting the Ravens to their 8-4 record hasn’t exactly been smooth sailing for Jackson. He’s had to deal with injuries to his biggest playmakers, like running back after running back going down for the season. Perhaps no player has had to put their team on their back like Jackson has.

On the season, Jackson has thrown for 2,865 yards and 16 touchdowns. However, he’s thrown more interception this season — tossing 13 passes away to the other side. Still, he’s continued to get the job done with his legs — accumulating 762 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.

Lamar Jackson missing an extended period of time would be detrimental to the Ravens season. The entire football world will keep their eyes open and their prayer up for one of the league’s brightest young stars.
